I’ve ventured into video making… Like I’ve not got enough to do already ??♀️ The current one I’m working on is about Reiki and somewhat “de-mystifying” it. It can be strange… But once I get around to finishing the editing I’ll add it to either this post or another post. It is vaguely related to my essay I recently wrote and submitted (hope I get ok grades for it).
I wanted to share with you an excerpt from my recent essay for university, where the topic was reflection on our values, beliefs and how they effect our professional practice as healthcare professionals. For those who aren’t aware, last year (2017) Osteopathy had gained Allied Health Status in the UK, which is an important milestone as people and the government are starting to recognise the importance of Holistic treatments where all things (biopsychosocial) are fundamental to a person’s wellbeing.
Through reading Andrew Taylor Still’s (1899) ‘The Philosophy of Osteopathy’ and ‘Autobiography’ (1908) it shows that although Still’s approach can be seen as unacceptable by doctors of that era (and doctors of our era), he had a firm understanding that health involves the mind, body, social and spiritual (in a sense where he was also involved in electromagnetism). From his values and beliefs, Osteopathy was born and is practiced today, but with various unknowns and questionable practices dropped. Although I am still a student and missing certain knowledge, I agree and relate to Still’s insight of health and with the constant improvement in technology we will bridge the gaps and understanding of how certain therapies and approaches interact with the human body. Potentially they are 70 percent psychosomatic affects caused by just human touch or communication, but we should remain open to the idea of connecting to different magnetic spectrums and frequencies, which other animals are able to hear, see or sense.
In a way, I’m hoping this is the era where more people open their mind and understand health, the human body and things like energy healing more.
Ok, I’m sure some of my colleagues from work and uni may think I’m crazy… But there is no denying that certain things occur in or about the human body/objects we connect and send positive vibes to. Just like how witches who used use herbs and things to cure and blessings to wish people well were called nutcases and hung etc. Though… yes I admit there are some who practice things to the extreme…
I’m going to stop myself before I go off too much on a tangent… but I’ll be uploading a video soon on my view and way of Reiki, which may or may not resonate with certain people (yet).
