I enjoy and also find practicing concepts/precepts aids me in deeper connection to energy and the world via Usui Reiki Ryoho. But a little while back I realised this and was wondering what others think…
It is impossible not to label things otherwise it’s hard to describe and explain to people what we do as practitioners. However, Usui Reiki Ryoho is “technically” a branding of the practice and the use of universal energy, because it’s named after Usui Mikao. Is it wrong to see it this way, despite him being the ‘founder’ and teacher? This partly stems from me learning and practicing from years ago after learning through a number of books without it labelled anything but ‘energy healing/works’- technically just ‘reiki’ (directly translated as ‘spiritual energy’) .
Yes, it is good to know who was the person who had devised these teachings and precepts, which are a great aid to those who are new to the way as a foundation, acts as reminders for practitioners, whilst help deepening practices toward lifestyle of Reiki practice and being one with nature. The rest of it comes with practice and experience.
I’m sure many people have slightly different perceptions and beliefs in their practice. I’m not looking to scrutinise or to make it sound like everything is branded. It’s more to open up the thought processes of being grateful and humble (as per the precepts by Usui Mikao) for the energy and life that surrounds us all. Whilst understanding that because there shouldn’t be any ego attached when practicing, especially when providing treatments, why should there be different names or styles of reiki? Is the only difference the way and what is taught be each ‘founder’ of the styles?
